Rui Sul Gomes studied at Conservatรณrio Nacional de Mรบsica and at Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra. Between 2000 and 2006 he was Solo Percussion at Orquestra Nacional do Porto and since 2006 he has been Solo Timpanist at the Orquestra Gulbenkian, in Lisbon.
Being an enthusiast of the Adams Schnellar and Amsterdam School of timpani, he improved his musical studies with Marinus Komst and Nick Woud. As a soloist, he as performed with the Orquestra Gulbenkian , the Orquestra Clรกssica de Espinho , the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and the Orquestra Acadรฉmica Metropolitana.
He was teacher at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra, Universidade de Aveiro and Escola Superior de Mรบsica e Artes de Espectรกculo do Porto. At the same time, he gave masterclasses in Portugal and Brazil.
