Mark Robinson is currently the Associate Principal Timpanist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Born and raised in Sydney, Mark obtained a Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He went on to further studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he graduated with a Post-Graduate Diploma.
Mark moved to Belfast in 2006 when he was appointed Section Leader of Percussion with the Ulster Orchestra, a position which he held until his return to Sydney in 2010. He has appeared as Guest Principal Timpanist with the London Symphony Orchestra, Australian World Orchestra, Opera Australia and the Auckland Philharmonic and has also performed as a percussionist in these and many other orchestras.
As a chamber musician, Mark has been a regular guest with Synergy Percussion, Omega Ensemble, the Australia Ensemble and has appeared at festivals around Australia and internationally.
Mark has been heavily involved in education and outreach programs in Australia, London and throughout Northern Ireland, teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and was appointed an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2012.
