There is a remarkable history behind this work. The Amsterdam School has brought together generations of extraordinary musicians and craftsmen, creating a tradition that continues to influence percussion today.
To be part of this history is both a privilege and a responsibility. This series honours the work of those who came before us while continuing to evolve through the experience of today’s players. Our aim is to create something meaningful for the present, while contributing to the legacy of future generations.

After many years of development with the insoundmallets team, I’m truly delighted to see this series come to life. Inspired by the Dutch timpani tradition, our goal was to create mallets that allow sound to emerge effortlessly and naturally, with a seamless connection between player and stick.

Through extensive experimentation, we arrived at a refined construction with meticulous attention to even the smallest details. The result is a series that offers a warm, open sound while maintaining clarity and articulation.

For us, sound is never the result of one element alone. The materials, construction, weight, balance and finishing all interact to create the final voice of the mallet. This is why we pay attention to details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

We use an exclusive cork produced in the south of Spain and our felt is being produced for us with a very distinct density. This is the best combination we have ever found in order to get a clear and warm Amsterdam sound from the core.

There are also visual connections between Tomo’s Japanese heritage and the history of the Amsterdam School. Our Japanese silk, for example, takes inspiration from the colours of the Amsterdam flag, creating a subtle link between two traditions.

The mallets can also be finished with our authentic thin Italian leather grip, available as an option.

Every material tells part of the story. Every detail has a purpose. And together, they form a mallet designed to express the distinctive sound and character of Amsterdam.
