Hankyu Kim

Korean Symphony Orchestra

Hankyu Kim developed an interest in music from an early age when he was a member of the church choir and the children’s choir. His interest in vocal music continued when he reached high school (16 years old) eventually leading him to his major in percussion.

He studied percussion and timpani at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, and after graduation studied at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Proffessors Edgar Guggeis, Franz Schindlbeck and Rainer Seegers for a diploma and Konzertexamen. After studying he went back to Korea, and is the solo Timpanist for the Korean Symphony Orchestra in the Seoul Arts Centre, and also a lecturer at Hanyang University, Kyunghee University and Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, Korea.
